WMF UK Hosts Record-Breaking Junior Qualifier for 2026 world Championships

A Milestone Event for Junior Muay Thai

On Saturday, April 12th, WMF England hosted its biggest junior qualification event to date. The Sandee Intercontinental Open 2025 was held at the Barnsley Metro-dome in South Yorkshire. It attracted 256 junior fighters between the ages of 5 and 17.

Organised by United Kingdom, WMF vice president of Europe, Mr. Petee Spensley, the event featured a total of 97 competitive categories. Fighters came from all corners of the United Kingdom, showcasing remarkable skill, heart, and sportsmanship throughout the day.


Pathway to the World Stage

As a result of their performances, 85 UK-based fighters earned automatic qualification for WMF international events in 2025 and 2026. In addition, 68 more athletes are under consideration for selection. This gives a strong indication of the depth of junior talent developing across the country.

The event was proudly sponsored by Sandee of Thailand, one of Muay Thai’s most iconic brands. Their continued partnership with WMF England helps provide young fighters with world-class platforms and valuable exposure.
