We Work Together
The World Muaythai Federation (W.M.F.) unites national federations, athletes, and supporters from over 70 countries to preserve Muaythai’s traditions and drive its global growth.
About W M F
The World Muaythai Federation (W.M.F.) was established in 1995 through the unification of two organizations that previously governed International Amateur Muaythai. Under the leadership of General Chaisit Shinawatra, the newly formed W.M.F. set up its Head Office at Bangkok’s National Stadium sports complex, marking the beginning of a unified effort to preserve, develop, and promote REAL Muaythai across all levels—from Amateur to ProAm.
Since its inception, W.M.F. has been a driving force behind the global growth and recognition of Muaythai, both as a sport and as a martial art. By August 2012, the Federation had expanded its reach to include over 70 full member countries and 26 associated members. This remarkable achievement reflects the passion and dedication of its members, athletes, coaches, and supporters, as well as the visionary leadership that has shaped its legacy.
The Federation’s progress has been guided by influential leaders, beginning with its founder and first president, General Tienchai Sirisumpan, followed by General Chaisit Shinawatra, who served two terms, and General Akachai Chantosa, who also held the presidency for two terms. Together, these leaders laid a solid foundation for W.M.F.’s continued efforts to unite the global Muaythai community and advance the sport worldwide.
We Are Non Profit Organization
The World Muaythai Federation (W.M.F.) is a non-governmental, non-profit public organization that unites national Muaythai Federations under a global banner for Amateur Sport. With a nearly 30-year history, W.M.F. has pioneered the development, expansion, and popularization of Muaythai worldwide. The organization remains dedicated to promoting the sport for children, youth, men, women, seniors, and people with disabilities, fostering inclusivity and growth across all demographics.
As a non-profit entity, W.M.F. focuses on supporting its National Members across five global zones, offering assistance in technical matters, training methodologies, medical studies, and athlete performance. The Federation also helps members achieve affiliations and recognition from National Sport Authorities, Ministries of Sport, and National Olympic Committees, with many achieving this milestone successfully.
Through its ongoing efforts, W.M.F. continues to advance the sport of Muaythai while adhering to stringent anti-doping and anti-drug policies, aligned with international standards.
