Golden Mongkhon Launches National Amateur Muay Thai Championship in India

Bengaluru, India – 2025

A New Chapter for Indian Muay Thai

Golden Mongkhon International has announced the launch of the Golden Mongkhon National Amateur Muay Thai Championship, a landmark event dedicated to nurturing grassroots talent and building the future of Muay Thai in India. The event will welcome fighters from across the country to compete in a professionally run national platform.

The championship comes at a critical time—originally, Golden Mongkhon was set to host the Asian Muay Thai Championship in India, a goal that had been in development for over a decade under the leadership of Mr. Hemanth Kumar, sole representative WMF INDIA, Exicutive board member of WMF & founder of Golden Mongkhon International.

A Difficult Decision, A New Direction

With international infrastructure ready and foreign delegations lined up, everything pointed to a historic Asian-level event. But rising global tensions and regional instability led to serious safety concerns. Some countries began withdrawing or hesitating to send their athletes.

After careful deliberation, the decision was made to postpone the Asian Championship—not out of defeat, but out of responsibility for everyone involved.

Refocusing on National Growth

Rather than halt momentum, Golden Mongkhon took a bold step: launching a national championship to spotlight India’s amateur fighters. This isn’t a substitute—it’s a strategic redirection of resources toward the domestic scene.

The Golden Mongkhon National Amateur Muay Thai Championship will feature under-18 and senior amateur categories. Fighters will represent their states, compete under experienced officials, and test their skills against the best in the country.

“This event is for India. It’s about creating a strong base for the next generation of fighters,” said Mr. Hemanth. “We believe in building champions from the ground up.”

Raising the Bar

With high-level organization, structured rulesets, and a focus on fighter development, this national event aims to uplift the standards of amateur Muay Thai in India. It also provides clubs and coaches across the nation with a unified platform to measure growth and skill progression.
