17th Open European Muaythai Championship – Armenia

A Week of Strength, Spirit, and Solidarity

The 17th Open European Muaythai Championship has come to a close in Yerevan, Armenia. It was a powerful week filled with energy, unity, and passion for the sport. Fighters, coaches, officials, and fans from Europe, Asia, and North America came together to share their love for Muaythai and build strong friendships.

The event was hosted by the Armenian Professional Muaythai Federation (APMF), led by President Aram Abramyanand General Secretary Armine Khachatryan. In addition, the championship was held under the patronage of the World Muaythai Federation (WMF). As a result, the event delivered high-level competition, strong sportsmanship, and an atmosphere of respect.

Each country competed with pride and discipline. Moreover, their presence made the event a true celebration of friendship, culture, and unity through sport.

Championship Highlights

Opening Ceremony

To begin, the championship opened with a colourful Parade of Nations, followed by traditional Armenian dance and a graceful Wai Kru by Luca Magleocchetti. The Armenian national anthem then filled the arena. As a result, the audience felt the excitement from the very first moment.

Competition Action

Throughout the week, juniors and professionals stepped into the ring and delivered strong performances. They showed skill, heart, and the true spirit of Muaythai. In addition, many young athletes surprised the crowd with their talent. Therefore, the future of Muaythai in Europe and beyond looks bright.

Event Leadership and Guests

We were honoured by the presence of WMF General Secretary Mohammad JalaliWMF General Director Luca Magleocchetti, and EMC President Simone Rinaldi. Their support played a key role in the success of the championship.

Furthermore, we thank Peter Spensley, WMF President of the United Kingdom, and Sergey Babayan, WMF President of Russia, for their constant help and guidance.

In addition, we were pleased to welcome Hovhaness Tsarukyan, Co-Founder of the Union of Non-Olympic Sports of Armenia, Garnik Hayrapetyan, President of the Union of Non-Olympic Sports of Armenia, and guests from Yerevan City Hall. Their presence motivated the organisers, athletes, and the entire Muaythai community.

Team Armenia’s Performance

As the host nation, Team Armenia fought with strength, focus, and discipline. The home crowd cheered loudly in every round. Because of this, each victory became even more meaningful for the athletes and fans.

Closing Ceremony and Pro Showcase

Finally, the championship ended with a warm celebration of all athletes who showed respect and love for the sport. After the medal ceremony, the event continued with thrilling Pro-Am and Professional fights. With walkouts, lighting, and live announcements, the showcase created a memorable closing. In the end, each winner received a championship belt and medal in the ring, which honoured their hard work and spirit.

We express our sincere thanks to the World Muaythai Federation, national federations, presidents, coaches, referees, volunteers, and partners. Your teamwork made this event possible. Also, we thank the City of Yerevan and the Armenian Olympic Committee for their strong support from start to finish. Overall, the 17th Open European Muaythai Championship was a week of honour, respect, and unity. Together, we created a special moment for Armenian Muaythai and for the global Muaythai family. We now look forward to the next championship and to the continued growth of our sport worldwide.
